  SpamCop, SpamHaus and blacklisted emails

There are many sites that will put a block on your emails if someone reports you or if you are sending out spam.

Links to spam cop type sites.

http://www.spamcop.net                          http://www.spamcop.net/w3m?action=checkblock&ip=92.239.63.73

If when sending an email, you get this error message or similar "Your IP has been listed on the Spamcop Realtime Blocklist."

You need to go on to the spamcop.net website and enter your IP to be checked and removed.

---------------------------

SPAMHAUS

if it is blocked by spamhaus then go to: http://www.spamhaus.org/lookup.lasso

 -------------------------------

ERROR MESSAGE = "Server error 550 server response please see http www.spamhaus.org. Port 25."

---------------------------------------------------

HOW TO REMOVE THE SPAMHAUS BLOCK

Get your latest ip from the bottom of our website.

GO TO http://www.spamhaus.org/lookup.lasso and enter your IP and click on remove, if it exists on their site after a search.

Once you have removed the block, it can take a few hours before you are able to use your emails again.

---------------------------------------------------

It’s ok for your IP to be listed in the PBL list, don’t worry about that.

If it is listed in the XBL (Spamhaus Exploits Block List through hijacked PCs) OR SBL (Spamhaus Block List ) then you need to remove it from there.

---------------------------------------------------

PREVENTION

Change your email password in case someone is using it.

Check your computer for viruses and spyware.

---------------------------------------------------

THE PBL IS NOT A BLACKLIST. You are not blacklisted for spamming or for anything you have done. The PBL is simply a list of ALL of the world's end-user broadband IP space, i.e: IP space normally assigned to broadband/ADSL customers. It is perfectly normal for dynamic IP addresses (DSL, DHCP, cable, dialup) to be listed on the PBL. In fact all IP addresses in the world which are not designated mail server machines *should be* on the PBL.

IMPORTANT: THE SPAMHAUS PBL IS NOT A BLACKLIST. You are not listed for spamming or for anything you have done. The PBL is simply a list of all of the world's dynamic IP space, i.e: IP ranges normally assigned to ISP broadband customers (DSL, DHCP, PPP, cable, dialup). It is perfectly normal for dynamic IP addresses to be listed on the PBL. In fact all dynamic IP addresses in the world should be on the PBL. Even static IPs which do not send mail should be listed in the PBL.

---------------------------------------------------

Important: If you are using any normal email software (such as Outlook, Entourage, Thunderbird, Apple Mail, etc.) and you are being blocked by this Spamhaus PBL listing when you try to send email, the reason is simply that you need to turn on "SMTP Authentication" in your email program settings.
